We all experience different emotions, throughout the day.
These emotions impact what we do, and what we will say.
All our actions and our words, start with what we’ll think.
Some of our thoughts lift us up, others will make us sink.
There’ll be times that we are happy, and times we’re sad.
There’ll be times that we’re angry, and times we are glad.
Sometimes we will be terrified, and fear will rule the day.
The emotion of “fear” can impact us in every single way.
Sometimes we will rage and start to just feel out of control.
If we have this emotion too often, it will always take its toll.
Sometimes we become depressed, and simply want to cry.
We are sad about a loss, disappointment, and wonder why.
Sometimes we will feel happy, wanting that feeling to stay.
Happiness isn’t something, that we feel on every single day.
Some emotions stay for a while, while others will simply go.
How long each of our emotions stays, we may never know.
It’s important to be aware, calling emotions by their name.
Understanding emotions, our lives will never be the same.
This is an important step, to help us get off to a great start.
When we are out of control, we will just need to hit restart.
Once we have this down, we’ve mastered the very first part.
We’ll be ready to regulate our emotions, right from the start.
We’ll need to decide, to make each emotion stay or go away.
Even negative emotions can become positives without delay.
Our emotions are neither good or bad, they simply exist.
Some are hard to handle, while others are hard to resist.
Some will test or challenge us, to our very own inner core.
Others, will make us much stronger, than we were before.
We all possess the power and choice that’s needed to heal.
First, we all must decide to give ourselves permission to feel.
We can listen to some uplifting music or go for a long walk.
We can also meditate, do yoga, or practice positive self-talk.
We can do some mindful coloring or paint a beautiful scene.
We can also eat some dark chocolate or drink some caffeine.
We can rip some paper, or even start to scream and shout,
Then, loud utterances or protest of opposition will come out.
Many emotions can come to surface, by a place or an event,
Baggage we bring to the event, determines how things went.
Aware of our triggers, and what sets us off are important too,
We must have a growth mindset and a positive point of view.
For whatever we are feeling, just know that we are in control.
It is our decisions, that direct and determine, our own parole.
We are in control of our emotions, not the other way around,
If we just do this, our pursuit of happiness will soon be found.
